I'm going to add something to this. Human feces can be potentially dangerous if ingested if the human that left the waste behind uses marijuana. Sadly, I know quite a few dogs that found human waste, ate it, and their panicked humans later found when they had to take them to the vet for the strange and alarming symptoms they exhibited as a result of marijuana poisoning. And something like 90% of the THC is expelled in human waste. Quite alarming. I have a dog that unfortunately for me likes human fecal matter, so he's often leashed as I find more and more human waste out on and off trails in the past few years.

I lost Milo for 10-15 minutes in the mountains on my parents property (280 acres of mostly dense woods). It’s the only place I ever let Milo off leash that’s not fenced but never again. I was mentally crafting my message to you asking what to do when he came trotting up the road. I’m sure he smelled a critter

I felt like I was walking along side you and Tino while reading this! My heart was in my throat and tears of joy when you put Fias owner on the phone. Great idea. It is a wonderful story.. I am so glad there was a happy ending.. However, I am in no hurry to take my dog on a hike with all the dangers around even on a leash. I had no idea. Thank you once again for your knowledge and sharing it so we can protect our pups.
