I can't tell you how much I feel this, sometimes daily. Our first dog is very chill but second dog is very excitable and would react to EVERYTHING at first. He's finally calmer now (five years later) with most dogs and people, which helps. But if he sees a dog that is new to him, or worse, multiple dogs? Oh yes, please, just give me a moment to get my feet under me.

Love this. When I rescued my girl she had never been on a leash and was exuberant whenever she saw anyone else [dog or person]. Some other people with dogs were helpful and some were not. I try to emulate the helpful ones now that mine is a good [and old!] girl. It is really so easy and so kind.

Another great article. Glad I haven’t experienced Good Dogs marching at me . I don’t have a dog right now but still have met aggressive dogs on my walks.

All dogs are good, but many are quite particular as to when they choose to display 'good' behavior ;-)

I am so glad you wrote this. I can relate to everything you have said about good dogs' bad dogs. Sadie is a tough cookie, and she likes to take her walks, but I have to be so very careful and very conscientious of our surroundings. She often times tries to lunge snarl and bark at most other dogs and people!!!! Yikes. She has gotten better but I do plan escape routes and I only have one dog which can pull me to the ground. I get the look all the time from other dog owners who say" Oh don't worry, my dog is friendly " as they walk closer. I have to say mines not and then it begins. Growl and lunge with all her might. If they had just ignored us when they could see she was starting to behave poorly things would be different, although I don't blame them because they have the good dog. I turn and try to go the other way as much as possible and then I make her sit, but that doesn't always happen. So yes, please just give me a moment. Thank you for sharing
