We need new laws to protect animals from being displaced. People do this because they think they are letting the animal go free or sometimes cruel neighbors and family members abandon others pets as an act of malice.

Currently in the state of Washington, pets are considered property. It's too easy to dump them somewhere remote and get away with it. Police too often assume that the pet ran away so won't file a report or look into it.

I begged my agoraphobic mom for a puppy all my young years. Insecure and super shy bored to death every summer. I'd made friends with the neighbors dog who ran loose close to a busy street, took his life and I felt mine that day. I new better than the owner. I was 11 year's old 1979 mom says yes to a puppy. All my dad new back then you get a puppy from the petstore. I brought home Ruffles my cockapoo. Mom couldn't handle the dog was crying and not potty trained she gave 3 full days on the 4th day mom made me and Dad return my puppy to the petstore. I will never forget. Graduated HS gone. Have my first guinea pig "Tex" many dogs, cats goats later. I found I'm happiest with my animal family. People I gravitate towards love animals too. Dogs transformed my world and taught me life lessons. Always learning. 8 years ago August 1st Teyla was bought by me first dog not adopted in some way. Teyla is from a backdoor breeder. Paid way too much. Of course I wouldn't change that for any amount of money in the world. Teyla is my everything we have been through more than I thought possible. Teyla is my entire world. Covid I learned much on lost dog sites obsessed with learning. I have helped a few find their way back. I found my neighbors 2 cairn terriers twice now (they are still not taking my advice). I used some techniques learned crediting you. I am always ready to learn more. Regardless of a course or not because of you and your mutts I proudly say I have saved lives.

I’m glad you have been able to help so many dogs. I’m guessing all of my dogs came from backyard breeders, but I don’t know. My dogs are my greatest treasures, so I guess I’m grateful to those particular backyard breeders in a way, but I still wish they would stop.
