J. Brownie Kubota is a lucky dog to have found his way to UBS. I am sure when he finds his new forever family. He will be the best companion they have ever had. Thank you for your continued dedication to help dogs who had to experience unfortunate circumstances.

I can't believe that Washington State is in the situation where shelters have to turn away dog. We were always the place that took dogs in from other states and countries. But we knew this was coming when the pandemic started and there was a rush to get dogs. The inevitable going back to work and school means "I don't have the time to give what the dogs deserves". Plus with inflation, layoffs and our wrecked money system, it ends up being a huge financial burden on some people.

So here we are, Eastern Washington shelters cannot take in strays now. Western Washington shelters have a three week waiting period to surrender your pet. Thus, people feel panicked and out of options and just let their dogs go on the streets. And I have to mention the people that are "backyard breeding" their dogs just to make some extra money. I am devastated it has come to this.

The main reason for this rant is that I wish local rescue organizations would start helping dogs in our state. Two of my four rescue dogs are from Texas. 65,000 animals are euthanized in Texas shelters every year. Obviously that can't be ignored, and it needs to be addressed with state legislation. But we have a problem in our very own state. I'm still working on facts and figures on this statement, just needed to rant since you addressed the issue.
