I agree with some of your experiences with Tractive! Especially the annoying connection for charging that has to be just right and is a on a super short cord. We also did have it successfully connect to our wifi but the battery life was still not as advertised. It seemed to be a bit heavy for cats (maybe they all are) and we didn't have it on our cat 24/7, which was a mistake. We only used it for about 6 wks but we were able to find our cat when we wanted to bring him inside, in the general vicinity Tractive showed.

I agree with everything said. Difficult to log onto dog when he wanders out of the safe. It tells me he is out of the safe zone when he is in the house. If a car gps can work ALL the time why can't this piece of kit - because it's not much better than useless. Don't buy and look elsewhere. Can't trust it

I've had 3 Tractive units and have had battery issues with all of them. Also the unit doesn't work solely on GPS, it requires a cellular or wi-fi connection to track. Customer service tells me they don't offer phone support any longer and so I wait 3-5 days for a response which usually says "read the FAQ page on our website".

I bought a Tractive tracker for Ben's owner when she was haviing issues with him getting loose. Which mainly were her leash handling issues. He would get loose when she had him on a leash and was carring groceries into her house or taking her garbage out. I talked to her about these issues and Ben has not got loose while the owner has him since then. He has got loose when her friend that takes care of him the days that she works part time. They were ableo to find him withing 10 minuets. Because his signal is shared with them also. The Tractive tracker is sharable. After we got it activated. She shared his link with me in his profile. I bought it for her shortly after the Chicken Inciident. I did not want him going to doggie jail again. And Federal Way Animal Control did not lable him as dangerious for that incident. But they said if he had another incident. He would be have no choice but to lable him as Dangerious. I agree with you on the battery life and the charger connection. I have not had an issue when I connected it with the charger that it did not charge. I chose Tractive because it was the only one I could find that would work with an Android phone with someone who had T-Mobile as their provider. And if shared with anyone. It is supposed to connect with all cell providers. It connects with Verizon which is my provider. I looked at Wistle and Fi. The info on them said they only connected with one or 2 cell providers. I am not trying to say Tractive is good choice for anyone. It was just the only one I found that said it would work for Ben's owner. When we take care of Ben. He has not got loose. And I hope to keep it that way. But if he does. I hope I will be able to find him using the Tractive app. Ben will be 16 in June. When he does get loose now. He usually is not far from where he got loose. But the time of the Chicken incident. No one was able to get sight of him. And in 2 hours he had managed to get 5 miles from home. Now when he has got loose. They are able to see where he his and so far were able to get close enough they could see him. And he has been found withing 10 minuets. His hearing is not so good. So calling him if you are more than 10 feet away. Does not seem to work. Or maybe he just has selective hearing. His eye sight is not too good either. But his nose works fine.

I wanted to follow up on this info about Tractive Trackers. I have made a dumb mistake a few times when I was taking Ben out and I forgot to connect the lead from our cable run. And once Ben figured out he was loose. He just was sniffing around as usual. But once he found a scent. Of which I will never know what it was. He was moving pretty fast following the scent. When I called him, he would stop for a second. Then return to following the scent he was following. When I opened the tractive app. I was able to track him and follow his direction and see when I was getting closer. Most of the time he was within sight. Except for when he went behind someone's house or went into the deep brush that is in several places around the neighborhood. The longest he was ever loose is for about 20 minuets. I was able to catch him when he walked into someone's yard to an area that he was cornered and had nowhere else to go. He of course acted like the whole thing was a game and once I had him cornered, he just stopped, wagged his tail and smiled at me. Which I just put his leash on him. Hugged him and told him I loved him. And asked him to please not leave the yard even if he is loose. I am sure he will remember that in the future. It has been several months now since I have ever forgot to connect him to the cable run. Another note. I wanted to buy an additional charger connection in case I lost the one I had. Tractive has redesigned the charger connector. It is now a unit that clips on over the whole tracker. So, there is no more issue with having to get the connector on just right.
